Ceramic coating in Cardiff
Long-life paint protection applied at your home or workplace anywhere in Cardiff. Full decontamination, clay bar treatment and machine polishing first, then a hard-wearing protective layer on top — so the finish you get on the day is the finish that lasts.
Why a coating beats a traditional wax
Lasts far longer than a wax
A traditional carnauba wax is usually gone in a couple of months. Our 12-month Fusso hard wax is a big step up, and a ceramic coating goes further again — typically measured in years rather than months, depending on the product used, how the car is stored and how it is washed.
Chemical and UV resistance
The cured layer is far more resistant to road salt, bird lime, tree sap, brake dust and fallout than wax, and it slows down the UV fade and oxidation that dulls paint over Welsh summers.
Easier, safer washing
Dirt keys into a coated surface much less, so water sheets off and maintenance washes need less contact time — which is what actually keeps swirl marks out of the paint long term.
Gloss that stays put
Because the coating sits on top of freshly corrected paint, the depth and clarity you get on the day is locked in rather than washing away after a few weeks.
The preparation is the job
A coating only performs as well as the paint underneath it. The majority of the appointment is spent getting the surface right before any protection is applied.
1. Wheels, arches and shuts
Cleaned first and separately so brake dust and road grime are never dragged over the paint later in the process.
2. Snow foam pre-wash and safe contact wash
Traffic film is softened and rinsed away before anything touches the panels, then a two-bucket contact wash with grit guards and a fresh microfibre mitt.
3. Chemical decontamination
Iron fallout remover and tar remover pull embedded brake dust and tar out of the paint — the bonded contamination a normal wash leaves behind.
4. Clay bar treatment
The paint is clayed until it is completely smooth to the touch. Anything left in the surface at this stage would be sealed under the coating.
5. Machine polishing
A single-stage dual-action machine polish removes up to 80–95% of swirl marks, light scratches and haze, restoring depth and gloss before protection goes on.
6. Panel wipe and application
Polishing oils are stripped off so the protection can bond to bare, corrected paint, then the coating is applied panel by panel and levelled by hand.
7. Curing time
The coating needs to cure before it gets wet, so we plan the appointment around dry weather and let you know how long to keep the car dry afterwards.
What it costs
- Ceramic-grade protection is quoted per vehicle rather than sold as a fixed online package, because almost all of the work is preparation.
- The paint has to be decontaminated and machine polished first — a coating over swirled, contaminated paint just locks the defects in.
- Our Full Day Detail (clay bar, single-stage machine polish, interior deep clean) is the usual starting point, and coating is quoted on top once we have seen the condition of the paint.
- If you want long-life protection at a lower cost, our Exterior Safe Wash with hand polish and 12-month Fusso hard wax is the practical alternative.
Common questions
How long does a ceramic coating last?
It depends on the product applied, the preparation underneath and how the car is looked after. Manufacturers quote anywhere from around 12 months to several years; regular safe washing and avoiding harsh brush washes makes the biggest difference to real-world life.
Is a ceramic coating better than wax?
For durability and chemical resistance, yes. Wax gives a warm gloss but needs re-applying regularly. A coating is a one-off job with far longer protection — but it costs more because of the preparation involved.
Can it be done at my house in Cardiff?
Yes. We are fully mobile and self-sufficient with our own water and power, so we work on your driveway or parking space. We do need dry weather and a bay alongside the car so the coating can be applied and cured properly.
Does a coating stop scratches?
No — it is not a scratch-proof layer. It adds chemical resistance and makes the surface much easier to keep clean, which in turn reduces the swirl marks that come from repeated washing.
Which Cardiff areas do you cover?
We cover CF3, CF5, CF10, CF11, CF14, CF15, CF23, CF24 — from the Bay and city centre out to Cyncoed, Radyr, Whitchurch, Penylan and St Mellons.
We work across every Cardiff district we cover, from the Bay and city-centre apartments to driveways in Cyncoed, Radyr and St Mellons. Tight city parking is no problem — our setup is compact and we only need one bay alongside the vehicle.
